When you’re looking at different jewelry cleaning solutions, the first thing you should do is read the label carefully. Make sure it doesn’t contain any alcohols or acids, such as ammonia or vinegar. These are strong chemicals that can harm the finish on antique jewelry, as well as any stones or mountings that are in the setting.

Common sense might lead you to think that good old soap and water might be a good choice for cleaning your jewelry, but actually that isn’t true. First of all, it would probably leave a soapy residue on your antique jewelry, and further dull the finish and the clarity of any stones or gems it contains. Even worse, water can dissolve any mounting materials that are used in the piece, such as glues. If that happens, you might lose the stones from the piece, which would indeed be a shame.

If the main problem with your piece of antique jewelry is simply dust, then you can just use a very soft toothbrush to clean deep into its crevices. Use the absolute softest toothbrush that you can find, and make sure that it’s a brand new brush. Old toothbrushes might be fine for cleaning around the kitchen sink, but they definitely won’t do for cleaning jewelry. There might be toothpaste residue in an old toothbrush that scratch and dull the finish on your jewelry piece.

Whatever method you choose to clean your antique jewelry, it’s very important to make sure that it dries very thoroughly after you’re done, and especially before storing it in your jewelry box. The slightest bit of dampness can contribute to rust, pitting on plated metals, verdigris, and other unpleasant consequences.

So that’s basically it – make sure that you use a safe cleaning solution, and treat your piece of antique jewelry very gently by using a very soft toothbrush. If you’re still uncomfortable about doing it on your own, you always have the option of taking it to a professional jeweler, of course. Many jewelry stores will provide this service for free, too. Whatever you do, just make sure that you don’t do anything to modify your antique jewelry. Any significant changes to the original setting can have a drastic effect on its value as a collectible.

A newly mined rough diamond looks more like a piece of glass washed up on the beach than like the polished gems sold in jewelry stores. Bringing out their beauty requires the skill and art of a trained diamond cutter.

While incredibly precise, computerized machinery is now used in some parts of the cutting process for some diamonds, most of the work is still performed by hand using exacting and meticulous techniques passed down over the generations.

As a first step, cleaving or sawing is often used to separate the original rough into smaller, more workable pieces that will each eventually become an individual polished gem. Next, bruting grinds away the edges, providing the outline shape (for example, heart, oval or round) for the gem. Faceting is then done in two steps: during blocking, the table, culet, bezel and pavilion main facets are cut; afterward, the star, upper girdle and lower girdle facets are added.

Once the fully faceted diamond has been inspected and improved, it is boiled in hydrochloric and sulfuric acids to remove dust and oil. The diamond is then considered a finished, polished gem.

While other types of bands and rings are made of metals such as gold, silver, or titanium that begin in solid form, a tungsten ring is initially made of powder. Tungsten, along with carbide, is forged at temperatures that are upwards of 2,400 degrees. This may seem like something that is impossible, but the resulting rings are proof of this amazing combination, and they are as scratch and dent resistant as they come.

These rings are also permanently polished. No matter how much abuse they withstand on the finger, they will continue to look the same as they did on the day they were purchased. This is something no other metal can boast, as this is a feature that is only had by rings made out of tungsten and carbide.

To get a good idea of how resistant tungsten is, consider the fact that the metal is ten times harder than 18k gold, and four times harder than titanium. They are also right under diamonds in hardness, which sit at 10 on the Mohs scale, with this material sitting at a solid 9. They are so solid in fact, that if they somehow get stuck they must be removed by a professional — though this is extremely rare and is not something that most people would have to worry about in the least.

Sizing is an issue, as it is extremely difficult to resize a tungsten ring. Many jewelers or specialty shops that sell them require that they be sized to order, as to not run into any difficulties later on. If the rings need to be resized later on, the shop or vendor will only resize them for a price, which can range anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on their policies and the ring itself. Some shops do offer warranties on their rings which allow you to get them resized for free within a certain period of time. These policies are rare, and it can be difficult to find a vendor that instills this type of warranty on their tungsten pieces.

Depending on the brand, a ring of this type can range from the double digits to the quadruple digits. It is imperative that any tungsten ring that seems to be too affordable is carefully inspected, and you should be sure to ask the jeweler whether or not the ring is 100% tungsten.

If you are looking for the best place to buy tungsten rings, look online at MensRingStore.com. Tungsten Rings, Ceramic Rings, Titanium Rings, and Stainless Steel Rings from your number one Men’s rings store. They offer the highest quality rings you can find anywhere. They have the cheapest prices on Tungsten Wedding Bands, all rings are scratch resistant. If you have any additional questions about any of the mens rings they carry, please call one of their customer service representatives. They will help you make the choice that meets your needs. They can also help answer questions about sizing, his and her bands including ceramic rings and mens rings and a variety of other subjects on fashion jewelry for discerning buyers.

Choosing wedding jewelry can often be difficult. It is advisable to choose a certain type of wedding jewelry that is worn only, but the criterion should be if it looks good or not.

It may seem wedding jewelry is very expensive because they are created especially for this occasion, but this is not true. You can enter a store with accessories and chose something from there as well and you will definitely find affordable wedding jewelry. The only important thing is to match the jewelry with the dress. Carefully assorted with the entire port, they will create each wedding dress in a different character. However, for choosing bridal jewelry or accessories attention is highly required.

Year 2010 also brings alongside new trends. The old school, opulent, antique jewelry or those that mimic the vintage style are in vogue right now. They are extremely beautiful, but not so easy to wear. First, you need to take into account they do not fit any brides. If you want to wear something, you must be very careful in choosing your gown. Your whole style must be retro and to remind about the elegance of Roman or Greek women’s beauty. This type of jewelry fit very well for outfits like empire dresses, Victorian gowns, reminiscent of those 20s or 30s.
